Problems installing IMBA Professional on Vista and Windows 7

If this software is going to be installed on Vista or Windows 7 (32-bit), you could encounter problems when installing it. The following instructions should, hopefully, fix the problem.

If the installer does not find a path where to store a .msi file, required for the installation, an error message will be prompted. Just click "OK" and you will be given the option of choosing an alternative folder. Choose any folder, e.g., TEMP. After the installation, the file saved in TEMP can be removed.

Problems running IMBA Professional on Vista and Windows 7

If you receive the error message "Unexpected error" and the program terminates, then the problem maybe due to your security settings.

Try the following set of instructions to fix this problem:

  1. Click the Start button
  2. In "Start Search" type cmd
  3. The command (cmd) icon should now show up under the programs at the top of the start menu
  4. Right-click on the command icon
  5. Select "Run as Administrator"
  6. Go to the imba.exe directory (At the prompt, type:
cd X:\Jabasoft\IMBAEXUS, where X is your installation drive, e.g. C)
  7. Type imba.exe /regserver <enter>
  8. Try running the application (e.g., double-click the IMBA icon on the desktop).
  9. It's a miracle!

Re-installing IMBA on 64-bit machines

If older versions of IMBA (4.0) are re-installed on some versions of Vista and Windows 7 (64-bit) then your AddOns will not be able to install. You may receive an error like:

"DeployAddon() Invalid procedure call or argument".

Customers who purchased IMBA (4.1) should not experience this problem.

One way around this is to install IMBA onto your 64-bit operating system in the normal way, and then simply copy the entire jabasoft folder from the original computer onto a memory stick. This folder can then be used to replace the jabasoft folder on the computer with the 64-bit operating system (i.e. copy and replace all of the files on the new computer with those on the memory stick).

For 64-bit Windows operating systems please check also our "News" section (28 January 2010).

If after following any of the above instructions you continue to have problems, please, contact the IMBA Professional Plus team for assistance.
